Short-flash Bezold-Brucke hue shifts.
نویسنده
چکیده
Hue matching was used to obtain measures of Bezold-Brucke hue shifts with very brief flashes (17 msec) at ten wavelengths and several illuminance levels. Results were generally similar to those obtained by Purdy (1931) with uncontrolled stimulus duration. but there were also important differences. These were: the locations of invariant hues; the direction of shift for blue-green hues: and a reversal in shift direction at high intensities for yellowish stimuli. The results are compared with other measures of the hue shifts and discussed with respect to trichromatic and opponent-process models of color coding.

Bezold–Brucke hue-shift as functions of luminance level, luminance ratio, interstimulus interval and adapting white for aperture and object colors
UNLABELLED For spectral and nonspectral aperture color 3 s stimuli, Bezold-Brucke (B-B) hue-shift was measured for one to six subjects for four functions: (1) luminance (L) level from 0.1:1.0 through 100:1000 cd/m2; (2) L ratio from 1:2 through 1:1000; (3) illuminant color temperature (for seven illuminants including A and D65) by two adaptation methods; and (4) interstimulus interval from 0 th...
متن کاملColor enhancement in a high dynamic range environment
We present techniques for the processing of color, high-dynamic luminance images of a type aiming for objectivity and also of a type aiming for aesthetic improvement. In the first case we start with camera raw data, propose a variant white balance, darken very light spots and lighten very dark spots. In the second case we use color spaces of the type hue-saturation-luminance; we propose a hue p...
متن کاملUnique and binary hues as functions of luminance and illuminant color temperature, and relations with invariant hues
For aperture color 3 s stimuli, the four unique hues, and at times the four (equally-balanced) binary hues, were measured for: (1) adapting white color temperatures 2850, 3400, 5500, 6500 K; and (2) luminance (L) for 5 and 6 log L ranges (about 0.01-3200 cd/m2) in 3.2:1 L steps (viewed singly) for 1 subject per white, 3 log L in 10:1 steps for 6 subjects for white 6500 K, and 1 log L for 2-11 s...
متن کاملA new look at the Bezold–Brücke hue shift in the peripheral retina
Experiments were conducted with a bipartite field to better understand the Bezold-Brücke hue shift in the peripheral retina. The first experiment measured hue shift in the fovea and at 1 degrees and 8 degrees along the horizontal meridian of the nasal retina for nominal test wavelengths of 430, 450, 490, 520 and 610 nm. Peripheral measurements were obtained under two adaptation conditions: afte...
متن کاملMoving objects appear to slow down at low contrasts
Moving cars give the illusion of slowing down in foggy conditions, because low contrast reduces perceived speed. A grey square that drifts horizontally across a surround of black and white vertical stripes appears to stop and start as it crosses each stripe, because its contrast keeps changing. A moving square whose vertical and horizontal edges have different contrasts will show illusory disto...
